National Accounts runs the full SMSF compliance cycle: annual accounts, member statements, the fund's tax return, independent audit coordination and the ATO lodgment program, on fixed annual fees from $1,700 to $4,000 depending on fund complexity. Property funds are our specialty, valuation evidence included.

Why trustees move their fund to us

Fixed fees, quoted before we start. The annual fee is scoped to the fund's holdings and stays fixed for the year: no time-clock billing for phone calls. Most standard funds land between $1,700 and $4,000 a year, with the audit fee and ATO supervisory levy itemised transparently alongside.

i
Audit-ready valuations included

Property funds without the audit friction. SMSF property is where administration gets real: under SISR regulation 8.02B, fund assets must be reported at market value each year, and auditors have stopped accepting one-line agent appraisals. Through our valuation arm, SMSF Property Valuations, we deliver audit-ready desktop valuation reports for $245 residential and $550 commercial including a rental assessment, in 24 to 48 hours, retrospective years at the same price. Trustees elsewhere chase this document every July; ours arrives with the accounts.

Deadlines run on a program. Lodgment dates, contribution timing, pension minimums and the audit calendar sit in our workflow system, not in your head. New funds and funds with a late history get their lodgment program rebuilt and managed back to green.

Advice-adjacent, properly bounded. We handle the accounting, tax and compliance strategy of the fund: contribution cap planning, timing, structure of acquisitions. Where personal financial product advice is required, we work alongside your licensed adviser rather than pretending the line does not exist.

The annual cycle, from your side

Send the data once (or connect the feeds and we take it from the platforms), answer the queries in one pass, review the draft accounts, sign digitally, and we handle the auditor and the ATO. Trustees moving from a fund administrator or another accountant sign one authority and we collect the history ourselves, prior-year workpapers included.

Thinking about starting a fund?

An SMSF makes sense when the balance, the intent and the discipline line up, and as a working rule the conversation starts around $250,000 of combined balances. The decision framework, running costs and property-purchase mechanics are covered in our guides to SMSF accounting services and buying property in an SMSF, and the setup conversation itself costs nothing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does SMSF accounting cost per year?

Our standard funds run $1,700 to $4,000 a year on a fixed fee scoped to the fund's holdings, plus the independent audit fee and ATO supervisory levy, itemised.

How much does it cost to set up an SMSF?

Typically $2,500 to $3,500 including a special purpose corporate trustee, deed, registrations and rollover coordination.

Do you handle SMSF property and LRBA funds?

Yes, it is our specialty: bare trust setup, borrowing compliance, and annual audit-ready market valuations through our valuation division at $245 residential and $550 commercial.

Do you arrange the independent audit?

We coordinate it with an independent ASIC-registered SMSF auditor and prepare the workpapers audit-ready; independence rules mean the auditor is never us.

Can you take over an existing fund?

Yes. One signed authority and we collect the history, rebuild the lodgment program if it has slipped, and run the next cycle end to end.

What is the minimum balance for an SMSF?

As a working rule, around $250,000 of combined member balances is where a fund starts making sense against its running costs, weighed with your goals and involvement.
